Acupuncture

An ancient practice.

Acupuncture was first discovered and utilized in China over 5000 years ago.  Dr. Ng utilizes acupuncture as an adjunctive therapy to relieve a wide range of conditions commonly seen in chiropractic practice, from pain and stress, to internal and structural dysfunctions.

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine needles into the skin at specific points on the body, stimulating the nervous system to improve normal physiological functions. Dr. Ng chooses acupuncture points based on his knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, combine with his acupuncture training.

A modern approach.

Acupuncture works to “re-program” and restore normal physiological functions by stimulating specific points on the body in order to free up energy and restore balance to the body.  While the technique is ancient, Acupuncture continues to be practiced in modern day because it is safe, effective and therapeutic.  Acupuncture points stimulate the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) to release chemicals though our endocrine system, hormonal system and vascular system.  These chemicals can change or block pain signals which allow your body to return to normal function and stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well being.

A safe and comfortable treatment.

During your treatment, Dr. Ng is sensitive to the comfort of his patients and will help you feel relaxed.  One of the common misconceptions of acupuncture is that it is a painful process. However, many patients will say that with the insertion of the needles they rarely feel anything beyond a small pin prick, if anything at all.  Once the needles are inserted, most patients do not feel the needles for the duration of the treatment.

Dr. Ng uses the utmost care and hygiene in his practice.  Only disposable needles are used, which are sterilized and individually wrapped. These needles are only used once and are discarded immediately in order to prevent infection.
