Posture + Chiropractic

The spine consists of three curves in the neck, mid back and low back. The vertebrae (bones of the spine) and discs (found between the bones) help form the curves in the spine and help play a role in maintaining our posture and keeping us upright.

When you start to lose the normal curves in the neck, mid back or low back, more pressure is placed on the nerves in that region. This  can then lead to problems such as headaches, neck pain, back pain and/or muscle stiffness.

These symptoms are typically seen in patients (who have postural issues) and if you notice any discomfort in the neck or back and would like to get that examined by Markham Chiropractor, Dr. Ng, give our office a call at 905-554-2118 to learn more about how chiropractic can help!

Chiropractic Manipulation + Subluxation

Chiropractic manipulations (adjustments) are a form of active manual treatment provided by Dr. Ng to help decrease pain, to increase motion, to return the subluxated vertebrae (spinal misalignments) to as normal a position as possible and to restore communication from the brain to the rest of your  body.

What can chiropractic adjustments help with?
Chiropractic adjustments are effective in helping patients with conditions such as headaches, neck pain and back pain.

How do YOU get subluxations?
Subluxations in the spine can happen anytime throughout your life span and usually are caused by any stress (physical,  mental or chemical) that a person cannot adapt to.  In the early stages, it can affect muscles, ligaments and sometimes nerves.   If left untreated, it can affect the discs and overall structure of the spine .

How do you know if YOU have subluxations in the spine?
That’s where your markham chiropractor, Dr. Ng, will perform a comprehensive examination and evaluation including those tests necessary to determine the precise cause of your problem.

Fox News also reported on the study and noted “The JAMA`s recommendation comes on the heels of a recent study out of the medical journal Spine where sufferers of lower back pain all received standard medical care (SMC) and half of the participants additionally received chiropractic care. The researchers found that in SMC plus chiropractic care patients, 73% reported that their pain was completely gone or much better after treatment compared to just 17% of the SMC group”.

What to expect after a car accident

The most commonly sustained injury after a car accident is an acceleration-deceleration injury, also known as. WHIPLASH.  This can occur whether you are the driver or a passenger, whether your car hit something or if another vehicle hits your car.

Immediately following the accident, many people do not experience any symptoms as their adrenaline kicks in.  More often than not, stiff/sore necks are experienced either later in the evening or the following day.  If left untreated the soreness will go away a week later, however, that is simply the adaptive response as your body gets used to the muscles tightening up.  These tight neck muscles, over time, will pull your neck vertebrae out of alignment and after 90 days if left untreated, enough structural changes will occur in the neck vertebrae to cause new symptoms – headaches, migraines, neck pain, numbness and/or weakness in the arm and/or hand.

It is crucial to be proactive and seek treatment as soon as possible following a car accident.  Many victims do not seek treatment as they do not feel any sever pain or discomfort, however will develop spinal arthritis due to chronic vertebral subluxations (misalignments).

If you or someone you know has been in a car accident, call our Markham Chiropractic office at 905-554-2118 to schedule a consultation and examination.
